Absolutely love all of Trudi's books. The first one of this series seemed to move slower than her other works. You know how with some stories you can see where it is heading, well, with these ones they are so original, I couldn't predict anything. Angel of Storms dives right in and flows beautifully between the two main characters. I like the way her characters' minds work. The ethical struggle presented led me to consider the scenarios in a real way. Oh and it brings honesty to the people when she draws on her own expertise of art and craft. I enjoyed the originality and haven't yet quite worked out if the worlds that are travelled between are parallel universes, different planets or actual places on the same planet. It was a disappointment when the book came to the end and can't wait for the next book and how she deals with the questions risen in this one.

Angel of Storms Book 2 of Millennium Rule Trudi Canavan 9780356501130 Books Reviews
A very good book. Canavan has a way of combining high adventure and magic in a way that keeps you wondering what happens next. A little slow in parts but overall a nice even pace that is hard to put down.
Love Trudi this book was great. Can't wait for the next installment!
I am a fan and read all her books and while i had doubts about the first book, this one ran out of steam- had difficulty to finish it. Slow, bordering on boring, ambitious with not much to lean on ...I do hope Ms. Canavan will be back to her usual form soon.
I found the dual story of two separate characters annoying at first, but then I got used to and was keenly awaiting the next appearance of each. Good plot with flawed but amazing heroes and great baddies.
I really liked it right up until the end. I feel like we don't get the ending we deserve, and have to settle for one that got tacked on in lieu of a third book.
Presumably the third book is coming, but I'd stop reading about 20 pages from the end if I had it to do over again.
Beyond that, T.C. is one of my favorite authors so I'll still be buying everything that gets published.
After reading the first book of the Millennium's Rule I was nervous about reading Angel of Storms but I had nothing to fear. Where the writing in the first book had a tendency to build up to a climax and switch characters before you actually got to see or enjoy what all the build up was for, this book follows through amazingly. It flows perfectly compared to the first book and makes for a much more satisfying reading experience. As far as the actual story goes, you get to know the characters much better in this book because you get to see them handle stressful situations under pressure. The story felt like it actually got to start instead of just world building and the plot was amazing in the way it was set up. If you read the first book and are on the fence about reading the second like I was, I strongly recommend you go for it. This book has definitely earned its right to be on my favorites shelf.
My star rating is in between simply for the fact that I fell in love with the "wrong" character in the first book. I love how Tyen thinks and I loved his world. He was the steadfast one, the thinker. Rielle was the opposite and I despised her in the first book. In the second book Trudi managed to turn the tables as the title of the book states.
Jumping worlds and characters can get daunting and I had some trouble keeping up as I didn't read it in one setting. I read slow and a full time job with other activities afterwards didn't help. I love the book and am interested to see how it would pan out for Rielle and Tyen. I love how Trudi makes me think on uses of magic, some of it isn't new but when I read it something just sparks in my imagination like, what if it can be applied to the real world? Is it being done in some religions or cults? Are we limiting our own understanding? The list goes on. I am now rooting for Rielle where I wanted her dead in the first book like a certain character in the book, but with alternative motive. Tyen is still cool, but he needs to create more stuff and/or do something more exciting. I can't believe that my view of characters changed so much in one book. Keep it up Trudi Canavan.
